Friday night started out with pizza at one of our favorites, Barnaby's. Just the 3 of us and it was perfect. Coby wanted a piece of pizza badly, but settled for his pumpkin/sweet potato puree instead.
After pizza, I went to see The Age of Adaline with some girlfriends while Nate hung out with Coby at home. I was really excited to see this movie even though I wasn't sure exactly what it was about.
I was really impressed and LOVED the movie. I actually told Nate when I got home that I think he would enjoy it too. It's more drama than it is romance, which was different. I'm your typical lover of romance comedies, but this movie is a new favorite. Spoiler alert: There is the death of a dog in the movie and I was NOT prepared, considering Saturday was the 1 year anniversary of Wiley's passing. Tears rolled down my cheeks for a few minutes, that's for sure.
Saturday morning, it was rainy and cold...so it only seemed right to stay in our pjs and bum around the house with my family.
I also had a crying episode while remembering our sweet Wiley. I still think of him every day. You don't have to understand the bond I had with my dog... I'm not sure I even understood it until we lost him. He was the best. Hands down.
Saturday evening we met up with a group of friends at Buffalo Wild Wings to surprise Brandon for his birthday. Of course I didn't get a photo with the birthday boy...fail. Maybe it was because I was busy trying to keep Coby away from spilling another ramekin of ranch dressing all over the carpet...whoops ;)
After dinner we all headed over to hear Eric {my brother-in-law} play music at the Chicory Cafe in South Bend. This cafe is awesome because it's one of the few places that Eric plays where Coby can join, since it's not a "bar". However, they serve all kinds of drinks...including beer {for the hubby} and the best Sangria ever {for this momma!}. Coby slept through the first little bit, which was desperately needed and then he was awake and mostly happy through the rest of the concert. I think he was a little spooked with all of the people and loud music, but he's trooper!
We got to bed quite late Saturday night, but had to be at church at 9am for the dedication class. We are dedicating Coby at our church on Mother's Day weekend. After the class, we went to the 2nd service. Coby was in the nursery for both the class & the 2nd service, and rocked it. They even got him to sleep, which is not an easy task without his crib!
Nate & I had planned on going to the zoo Sunday afternoon...but we got home at 12:15 and Coby was asleep in his car seat. We brought him in and left him in his carseat while we ate some lunch and thought, once he wakes up we will feed him & head out to the zoo. He was still sleeping after we ate lunch, so we both decided to lay down for a short nap. I figured I would lay down for {maybe} 10 minutes and then Coby would wake up.
That's how it always goes.
Well...he slept till 3:45. That would be a 3 1/2 hour nap. A baby's FIRST!!! haha. That also means that Nate & I both got great naps in too! Considering the zoo closed at 5:00, we decided not to go and will try again some time soon :)
hahaha this picture cracks me up!
Sunday evening we met up my family to celebrate my twin sisters' birthday...they turned 30 on April 16. We went to dinner and then came back to our house for dessert. Because my mom makes the best dessert ever.
Coby loved playing with his cousin, Gio, in the ball pit. They both look super confused in this picture, but they were laughing the rest of the time! haha
After everyone left our house, we gave Coby a bath & put him to bed. I laid in bed thinking, what a good weekend. I wish Nate never had to work & life would always be a "weekend". Am I the only one to think this? :)
I woke up this morning super tired...but that's a Monday. Stay-at-home-mom or not, Mondays are Mondays. Exhaustion is just in the stars!
Here's to a great week. My baby turns 7 months old this week....What?!??!?
xox,
Naomi
