North Pole Breakfast 2019

One of my very favorite annual traditions:
 NORTH POLE BREAKFAST.

I love it because it's easy, but super fun to put together for the kids, and seeing them be surprised when they come down in the morning is my FAVORITE.

I hope they remember these memories forever.  Not because they're extravagant (they're not), not because it was a lot of effort on my part (it wasn't), but because it's a fun way to make them feel special and a way to really "start" the holiday season.  I know I'll look back on these memories and cherish them so much! I've seen some people do this as a way for their "elf" to show up. I'm avoiding the shelf until my kids say "but where's our elf?" hahaha.

Every year I change up the decor, plates, etc and usually get each boy a gift (this year was $1 light up sticks that they play with every single day haha).  I decided this year it would be fun to gift them an ornament each year to kind of represent that year.  Jacoby got a dinosaur because he's really fallen in love with them this year, Maddox got a Buzz Lightyear because he loves all things Toy Story and Buzz is his hero.  Kendry got a target dog ornament because he's my Target buddy...and I even got Nate & I an Eiffel Tower ornament to represent our trip to Paris :) I think it'll be fun to do this every year and then they can have their ornaments when they get big and have their own trees to decorate.

If you haven't ever done a North Pole Breakfast, you should! You could do it for anything-- New Years, any change of season, a Back to School breakfast, etc.  It's an easy way to usher in new seasons and make it a little fun :)

North Pole Breakfast 2018

One of my favorite things to do to kick off December around here is our North Pole Breakfast.  It's the perfect way to get the kids excited about the most wonderful time of the year.  I try to do it on the first Saturday of December and this year it happened on December 1st, which was a good way to start our Christmas countdown links too!

We keep it simple and I get the kids some Christmas jammies, a Christmas book, a Christmas movie and then we have breakfast together and talk about the fun ways we can celebrate Christmas together.

I usually make Nate's favorite breakfast casserole, we get powdered donuts, candy canes and some kind of fruit.  Basically the kids eat all the sugar 😉  I get the table all set up the night before and then when the kids come down, they see it all set up and right now...those little things MAKE THEIR DAY! Mom win!

I pray my boys always remember the true reason for Christmas, but that they also always find appreciation for the fun traditions and things we do together as a family too! I'm sure it will be the fun times together  like this that will forever be some of my favorite memories.
