I'm not sure what happened but this summer FLEW by! I think when they're in preschool, summer doesn't feel as "final" since they're still home some days and we can still do summer things. Now that Jacoby & Maddox are in school a full 5 days a week, it feels much more scheduled and summer has more of an "official end". We had a fantastic summer, so here's a recap!
We started off the first night of summer with a movie night & sleepover in the living room. The boys were excited and they slept way better than I expected :) haha. This is definitely going to be an annual thing every summer!
We spent time at the lake with friends...
took swim lessons...
and were so excited to have the SB Cubs games back in action! It's always a highlight of our summer :)
We spent 4th of July with friends, fireworks (one small burn), and watched the big fireworks at the park just as a family of 5.
We, of course, had to teach the boys how to catch lightning bugs...
and spent many days & evenings playing basketball in the driveway.
We went to the county fair this year and the boys had so much fun. They rode tons of rides, saw all the animals, and ate all the junk :)
We spent time in the pool...
visited Shedd Aquarium in Chicago...
and made another trip to Chicago for Lincoln Park Zoo!
we went putt putting...
and visited some of our very favorites!
we celebrated Nate's birthday with a beach day and then had a night out with friends!
we spent time at the park...
and more time at the beach!
zoo days...
cousin sleepovers...
ice cream...
and celebrating our favorite for Father's Day!
We hit up the Jazz Festival and ate junk food, listened to music, and then got in the car right before a summer thunderstorm!
Jacoby did a basketball camp and asked to do it every year...
and we even fit in a last minute before school vacation to Kentucky!
A summer full of sunshine + the simple joys of friends + family...it was a GREAT summer!! I'm sad to see it go but also ready for FALL...it's my favorite!!!
xox,
Naomi
