Back on May 30th, Saturday morning came {way} early. We got up at 6am to head out to Joliet, IL for the Chicagoland Bubble Run.
I saw an ad for this run a couple months back and thought it sounded really fun and something we could do as a family. The run specifically said that kids are encouraged to come, so sign me up! I thought Coby would be a great age, he is content in his stroller and I thought the music + bubbles would be really exciting for him.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but I figured there would be bubble all along the race. I was wrong. There were just mainly a few stations where they had really loud music + you ran through a bunch of bubble machines. It didn't work out very well due to everyone slowing down + trying to get pictures, or other parents like Nate & I who were trying to get their child to stop screaming (I swear I thought he was gonna LOVE it!)
At the very beginning of the race you run into a cluster of bubbles, and then it kind of wears off and there's another bubble machine in another 1/2-3/4 mile. I wayyyy underestimated how many bubbles there were + they ended up completely all over Coby, in his face + all over the stroller. He screamed every single time we went through a bubble machine, and towards the end, we skipped the last few. Side note: There were WAY too many people at the race. They had us go in different groups, but there were still too many.
So a bubble run isn't my favorite BUT I love doing activities like this as a family. I'm thinking a color run, or maybe even a turkey trot on Thanksgiving would be fun? As long as there aren't bubbles in his eyes, I think Coby will be down.
xox,
Naomi
