6 Month Update

6 MONTHS

How in the world is my little one 1/2 a year old??? I am having the time of my life being a momma to this sweet, cheesy, hilarious babe.

Stats:
Height: 26" (39%)
Weight: 14 lbs. 12 oz. (10%)
Head Circumference: 42 cm. (12%)

Your Favorites: your momma & daddy, fake-coughing, Benny, books, water bottles (or any kind of cup, can or bottle with liquid in it), giving kisses, Taylor Swift's music, blowing bubbles/spitting, the Itsy Bitsy Spider & Wheels on the Bus songs. swimming and bathtime

Your Non-Favorites: big & loud groups of  people, being rocked to sleep (huge change from months 1-4), sleeping in general, getting dressed, getting your nose wiped

Eat:

You are still all breastfed.  We plan on starting you on solids this week.  I've made a few foods to start you off with and then we will go from there. Mommy & daddy have discussed slowly switching you to formula as well...{blog post to come as to why on that}.

You have been such a champ as far as nursing goes and I am so proud of you for that. You eye every single bite of food we take, so I can't wait to watch you start eating solids too.

Sleep:

Yikes. Hot topic over in this house. Let's just say you aren't the best sleeper ever. In fact, your Grandma & Cici both say they've never seen a baby sleep less than you. haha.

You were sleeping 8 hours at night, but then went through about 3-4 weeks of waking up every 2.5-3hrs. I blamed it on teething (you have yet to have one pop through) and a growth spurt. I really think it was a big growth spurt because you would just wake up to eat and then go back down.

Vacation last week threw you for a huge loop as far as sleeping goes.  Not necessarily your fault...We basically ate dinner at about 9:30/10pm every night, which meant us getting back home around 12 or 1 am.  Not your normal routine, and it caused confusion for you.  You also slept in the same room as us, which is not normal either.  I think those 2 things, along with me not letting you cry {we didn't need to wake up the e n t i r e house} made it really hard for you to sleep.  Just for future reference sweet boy, vacations are for getting more sleep...not less ;)

Although sleeping through the night is definitely not your thing, your naps have improved immensely.  You have started to take a nice 30min-1 hr nap in the morning and generally a 1 1/2-2 hr nap in the afternoon.  So thank you for that :)

Personality:

You have become one of the funniest people. ever.

I just can't get over how much you make your daddy & I laugh, on the daily.  How is it that you're only 6 months old but have SO much personality?

Your sense of humor kills me. You will "fake cough" back and forth with people, and also have just recently learned to spit bubbles.  You think it's hilarious and do it often, and you tend to get louder & louder as you do it.  This past week on vacation, you were spitting bubbles SO loudly on the plane. I was in tears from laughing...I decided everyone could at least laugh at that.  Better than a crying baby, right? :)

I wish that I could freeze time with this phase.  You are filled with so much life & joy.  I was looking back on photos from the day you were born & I feel like you have already grown so much. I'm trying to soak in every single thing you do.

6 months in and I still can't believe you're mine.

Momma and daddy love you so much. Coby Drew. Please don't ever ever e v e r forget that.

xox,

Naomi

You just melt my heart on a daily basis with your smiles, and laughs, and fun personality. I love playing with you and just watching you. You teach me how to love more and more every day.
