It's been some TIME since I've been on here. Life felt really slow during the COVID shutdown month or so, and now it feels like life is picking up (at least seeing friends + family) and we are trying our best to soak in this summer! With this blog, my goal is to basically just keep a running journal/highlight of events because I'm a terrible scrapbook-keeper but love having these memories written down. So here's a little life lately and 4th of July recap...
This summer has been HOT.
We've hit up the park...
Gone on walks...
Had picnics...
held sweet new babies...
Rode bikes & scooters...
visited the zoo and played with cousins...
had car picnics...
Played chalk and bubbles...
Ran in the sprinklers...
Jumped a lot on the trampoline...
Grilled tons of food...
and we have hit up the pool A LOT.
We have been spending a lot of time at Nate's parents' pool, and I am so thankful to have that. It helps my kids be outside even when it's super hot, it wipes them out for a great nights sleep, and we all soak in the sunshine and pool time. Jacoby has learned to swim this year and I am so proud of him. He dives to the bottom of the deep end to get diving sticks, shoots hoops while jumping off the edge, dives off the diving board, and just has so much fun. Maddox is working on learning to swim and does a great job in the shallow end of getting diving sticks, and practicing his swimming. I think next year he'll really have the hang of it. Kendry fits into a puddle jumper and has the time of his life being a "big boy" swimming in the pool with it. I'm proud of him but also think it'd be nice if he had a little healthy fear ;) haha.
4th of July weekend was spent about 90% in a pool, between our friends pool and my in laws. It was the perfect weekend, with lots of sunshine, no naps, and exhausted kids (and parents too). We ate lots of food, tubed, had a boat ride, and soaked in the ability to see family and friends!
4th of July is always one of my favorite holidays, spent with friends & family.
As far as COVID goes...
We've been able to go out to eat (outside mostly), and the boys have been champs about wearing masks when needed. It's looking their school won't requite a mask in the room (thankfully) but I think that if they're in the halls they'll need it? It's interesting and I know everything continues to change...and probably will for awhile longer. I'm just proud of how my boys have handled the whole unknown and situation. I feel like it's been a good lesson on caring about the country as whole, understanding the freedom that we normally have and don't always get to exercise right now, and just being able be flexible in the moments where things & rules change!
Few other things to mention:
Maddox has learned how to ride a bike without training wheels and learned how to swing by himself...
Jacoby has learned how to swim and he's doing a great job reading!
Kendry has dropped his paci and moved to a toddler bed with no fussing or issues at all. He's truly my easy baby :)
Lots of independence and big boy things going on around here!!
In the middle of all of this, Nate & I are moving again! Just to a more central location where we are closer to friends, family, & all the places that we regularly go. We bought a house that we love and are doing a few renovations that should be done before we move in (thankfully!), but I'm really hoping the timeline works out so that we can move in before the kids start school. It's looking like we might move in the week or weekend before school starts 😆 So it'll be a fun, wild ride and probably lots going on. But it'll get done, we're really excited about it, and now the real work of packing and getting our current house sold! Apparently we like to keep things interesting!
It's been a fun summer, and we have lots more time to soak it in. I'm going to make sure we do our best and get in all the beauties of summer while also still trying to keep my sanity in the moving process.
