This is such a boy mom thing to say, but I totally look forward to our yearly Bulls game with the boys. We started this tradition in 2017, so Jacoby has now gone 3 times and this was Maddox's first! I can't wait until Kendry is big enough and we can all go together every year.
Last year we just took Jacoby and this year we took Maddox too!
We made the drive up on Sunday late morning. Eric & Amanda hung out with Kendry at their apartment in Chicago while we were at the game. Big thanks to them for doing that!
We got to the game and Maddox right away covered his ears and said it was "loud". Once we found our seats and let the boys check out all the players (and Maddox took his hands off his ears), we went and grabbed a snack. They both chose Skittles and they lasted the entire game!
Also, while we were out...Jacoby tripped and fell and was crying, so one of the guys that was running a Bulls store came out and gave him and Maddox these little #1 Bulls fan fingers. It got him to stop crying immediately.

Jacoby was totally in the zone and asked questions about the game. Maddox watched and cheered some, but they both were always on the lookout for Benny the mascot. Our love for him runs deep. Him throwing popcorn on people? The biggest laughs from my boys.
Towards the end of the 3rd quarter, a big blow up Benny came walking around and he was right across from us...and this is how it went down.
Jacoby: Mommy, I'm just telling you that I do NOT want him to come over here."
Me: I know Coby, but mommy isn't in charge of Benny...I can't help it if he comes over here. But he won't touch you, I can promise you that.
Jacoby: I'm telling you I really don't want him to come over here.
Me: I know. Let's just see what he does. He won't touch you or ask for a hug if you're scared. I promise I'll keep you safe.
The "scary" blow up Benny proceeds to come closer & closer...and Jacoby starts freaking out saying "no. no. no."
As Benny walk up to our row, Jacoby starts hysterically crying, trembling in fear and crawling into my seat. He was screaming so loud and hard that the entire section was looking at us. It was kind of funny, because Benny couldn't have reached him if he tried...AND he isn't meant to be scary at all, AND Jacoby loves all the other Bennys...but also I felt so bad that Jacoby was so scared of him.
He stayed in my lap and kept a close eye on that Benny the rest of the game!
Meanwhile, Maddox was waving to the blow up Benny and was sad when he walked away because he wanted to give him a hug. hahaha. They are so different! 😄
The Bulls ended up losing #whatsnew
and on our way to our car, Jacoby told Nate
"I never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never
NEVER
want to go to a Bulls game again. I don't like that blow up Benny".
Here's to hoping that didn't scar him for life and next year he'll want to go again. I mean, it IS our family tradition 😉
xox,
Naomi
