Nate & I have had a running list forever. Forever. We consistently see names, add them to our list, randomly take certain ones off, etc. We L O V E thinking about names, but when it comes down to it...it's always a challenge.
I had Bowen on the top of my list. He said no.
He had Crosby on the top of his list. I said no.
Back at square one, y'all.
I know we have lots of time to decide, but I get impatient. I love being able to call my baby by his name + usually the name helps me picture him better.
We decided pretty easily on Jacoby, but baby carp 2 has been a little more difficult. Considering we each knocked each other's first choices off the list. So where do we go from there? We both kept our eyes/ears out for names that we came across that might be the one.
One night at dinner when it was just the 2 of us, Nate showed me his recently updated list. I read through it + immediately fell in love with 2 names.
Over the next week or so, one name pulled at my heart strings just a little bit more. I was just about to tell Nate which one I was leading towards, when he told me he was leaning towards the SAME one. Praise the Lord :) haha. I thought for sure we were going to be on opposite name teams (<--name teams, it's a thing).
I loved the name but asked Nate if it was too "common". I love that Jacoby is unique + somehow it wouldn't fit to give baby #2 a common name when Jacoby is so different.
Different names, bible names, older generation names, family names, original names...whatever it is you do, let it be something YOU love. Honestly, you'll get judgey comments regardless, so just do you :) I know there's some of you thinking it's the strangest name ever...just keep scrolling, it's NOT :) There's also some of you who will say "oh I know so & so with this name"...and that's fine. I'm not out to have the only baby with this name. It's HIS name. He fits it so well already!
Nate assured me that it's not common + after stalking about every.single. list of "popular" baby names on the planet + it was nowhere to be found, I was set on it. Not that our babies have to have the strangest, weirdest names, but WE enjoy giving our babies names that aren't often heard of + that just feel right for our family.
His middle name is a family name, one thing we decided we would do for all of our children. Jacoby's middle name is Andrew after Nate's dad. Baby #2 also has a special family member's name as his middle name :)
We told our families last night + today and I suppose that I should share it with you too, right? It's only fair!

We love you already Maddox!!! I LOVE that we get to see you so often on the ultrasound. Keep growing healthy + strong, you've got a crazy big brother to keep up with :)
