Welcome to the world, my sweet boy!
Jacoby Andrew Carpenter
September 29th at 5:05pm 5 lbs. 13 oz. 20 inches |
I can't believe he is here & all mine (and Nate's!). It is the most incredible feeling I've ever experienced!
We are so in love.
Just a breakdown of the day, for those who want to know, and so that I forever have it documented.
Monday, September 29th
7:20 am: Went to work feeling great.
7:40am: First contraction
7:45am: 2nd contraction
Contractions continued to be 5-7 minutes apart.
8:15am: Left work & called Nate to let him know it was "go time"
8:30am: I got home, showered, contractions started to get stronger & were consistently 5 minutes apart and lasting about 45 seconds.
9:30am: Nate got home, threw our bags in the car & we were on our way to the hospital.
10:00am: Checked into hospital. 1-2 cm dilated. My response "Maybe I'm being a baby but these contractions hurt & we're only at 1-2cm???" The sweet nurse reminded me that contractions hurt no matter how far dilated you are :) The nurse told us to walk the halls for 1-2 hours and then they will check me for progress. As long as I made progress, they would admit me. After walking for about 25 minutes and Nate timing my contractions (about 3 minutes apart now), I decided I was done walking, haha. The nurse checked me and I had already made progress, so I was admitted.
11:00am: Fluids were started and contractions were strong & consistently every 2 minutes. I was lucky because every time they checked me, I was progressing. Every nurse and the doctor just kept saying how quickly things were moving, and I was thrilled to hear that.
12:30pm: Had enough fluids to get epidural... & I requested the epidural as soon as it was available :)
1:00pm: Epidural was in & I felt WONDERFUL. Drugs are a blessing! I immediately didn't feel any contractions. Nate was so impressed that he could see the contractions on the screen but I didn't have any idea I was having one.
The epidural was technically done "perfectly" because I still had feeling in my legs & could move my own legs. That is the goal with an epidural, so you don't feel the contractions but you still have feeling in your legs, so that when it is time to push...You can feel the urge to push & therefore push properly, helping everything go smoother! I was very thankful for a wonderful anesthesiologist who did it "perfectly".
4:15pm: Started pushing.
5:05pm: Jacoby Andrew Carpenter was born. Nothing like that feeling. I wish I could go back & relive that moment over again...that moment with Jacoby & Nate, something I will never ever forget.
A brief synopsis of the most surreal, crazy, painful, exhilarating, joyful, exciting, love-filled day of my life. The day I became a mom. There are no words to explain that day. I am beyond blessed to have had such an easy & healthy pregnancy, easy delivery (easy is relative here lol), and to have the most beautiful and healthy baby boy.
My first thought when he was born: I can't believe he is ours
My 2nd thought when he was born: He looks just like Nate & I LOVE that!
So in love & beyond blessed.
Side note: I have a lot more pictures...a photo dump is coming soon :)
