9 M O N T H S
Your Favorites: Mama, baths, Benny, sleeping in your crib, eating, Sophie the giraffe, being held, being sung to and dancing.
Your Not-So-Favorites: being alone, sleeping through the night, bottles, being in the car seat for too long
Eat:
You are still breastfed along with solids and some purees. I think we are transitioning out of purees because you would much rather be eating big boy food :)
Some of your favorite foods are pasta, grilled chicken, sweet potatoes, rice, and any kind of deli meat.
You don't like avocado and no matter how many times I offer, bananas are a huge no no for you ;)
I bought some formula this week, solely because I am thinking about switching you to formula at night. I don't have much extra milk and I am going to try giving you a bottle at night when you go to bed and only offering you a bottle in the middle of the night. I'm hoping this helps with your sleeping issues-- speaking of that. Let's talk sleep ;)
Sleep:
Here's where we stand: You love your mommy too much to sleep.
I can't blame you :)
You go down around 9pm, sleep until around 12 and you wake up, roll over onto your back and get yourself all upset. Then we flip you over and you go back to sleep until about 5/6am, eat and then go back down until around 9. I would love for you to figure out the 12 waking and get yourself back to sleep, because once you do that-- I'm thinking the 6am feeding will drop too. If you sleep 9-6 though, it'll be alright. Right now there's random days where you wake at 4am, instead of 6ish...and that is the hardest.
I mentioned formula because I think if we give you bottle at night and then at the 6am feeding, I think you might figure out it's not worth it to get up :) I've always gotten you, so you've had the comfort of mama. I'm confident you don't need to eat at 5/6am, but you just want me. So if I take away the comfort of breastmilk and just offer you a bottle, maybe it's less exciting? Not sure-- but it's the next thing I've thought of to help you sleep better :)
Oh, and as far as naps go, you've gotten much better!! You take a morning nap again (yay!) which is somewhere between 30min-1 hr and then take a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I LOVE this! Thank you :)
Play:
You love to sit up and play with toys.
You still aren't crawling, and still get mad when I put you on your tummy... You play for a little bit then get mad and roll over onto your back.
You've recently started scooting some on your tummy.
You've also started to turn and pull yourself places you want to go when sitting...so I think we're getting closer and closer to crawling.
Every morning when you see Jacoby, the BIGGEST smile comes across your face.
That same smile greets daddy every day when he gets home from work. It's a million dollar smile, let me tell you!
You are a huge mama's boy--which I love. It makes it difficult to go places without you, but I'll soak in these moments where you want me to be with you always. These moments are fleeting, I know.
Bath time is one of your favorites!
You tongue is always sticking out and most of my pictures prove that ;)
You aren't as serious as you used to be...you flash a smile for most people who will talk or sing to you.
While you love to look at other people, you prefer to not be passed around to a million people. If someone else is holding you-- you prefer for mama to be in your view, just so you know it's safe.
While your brother loves to be center of attention in a big group of people, I think you get overwhelmed in big groups. The noise, the craziness, and the unknown all kind of freak you out. While it's sometimes exhausting to hold you often, you give me a good arm workout. Also, I'm pretty sure this just makes you more like your daddy- a bit reserved, but still super sweet and friendly. Trust me when I say that's a huge compliment.
Here's a couple pics of the last month...
Maddox,
If only every baby had the smile you do ;) You're blessed with the best and I'm pretty sure it's going to get you whatever you want! I love your love for me and even when I'm exhausted...I want to soak it in! Some day I'll miss these snuggles. You have really started to enjoy Jacoby's antics and continue to build a bond with him. He taught you how to spit--so you know, your daddy + I are in for it! haha. You pull me in and kiss me about 100x daily and I don't ever want to forget that. 9 months have completely flown by and I'm not sure I can even think about you turning 1 without being all...but where did my BABY go?????? I mean, you still don't crawl so you're still my little baby! I pray every night that God will give you a compassionate heart and a gentle spirit. I'm pretty sure he's already answered my prayer. I love you, my sweet and loving boy.
