Greece Trip... Part 2 Santorini

SANTORINI, GREECE 😍

I'm not sure how I'm just now getting to this but here we are!  A little recap of the 2nd half of Nate & I's trip to Greece (from back in SEPTEMBER!!!) haha.

After our time in Athens, we took an early morning ferry trip to Santorini.  It's a long ferry ride...like 3.5 hours I think? But it helped us get in at a reasonable time, especially since where we stayed was about an hour car drive after getting to Santorini.

Maybe I've mentioned this before but Santorini was at the very top of my bucket list.  Like it was the ONE place I've wanted to go for the loooongest time...so it honestly kinda felt surreal being there.

View from inside our AirBnB

The view from our little deck right outside our place.

We got to our AirBnb and it was in the best location. We opted for a place that was small, because we didn't plan on "staying inside" much, and planned to be out and about a lot and I'm really glad we did.  We stayed in Oia, Santorini which is one of the villages and our little place we right on the main strip, making it easy to get places.

Oia is known for its beautiful sunsets and I kid you not at about 5:00 every single night, swarms of people would start heading down to the best viewing spot for the sunset.  We were about 10 steps around the corner from this view and so there were TONS of people every single night.  Thankfully we had a little "deck" that had a hammock and then you walked down a few steps and around a corner to get into our place...so it didn't feel like they were crowding our privacy.

After seeing the massive amount of people that crowded in to see the sunset, Nate & I opted to make a reservation at the restaurant across from our AirBnb that had rooftop views of the sunset.  They only requested that you buy a bottle of wine.  #sold

It was the BEST decision because we got to see the beautiful sunset while eating a delicious dinner and avoiding the crowds 😉

We spent a lot of time on Santorini just walking around and taking in all the beauty.  I felt like I had to stop every 5 minutes to take a picture, but tried my best to restrain. We got to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary while there and it kinda set the bar high ;)

I love this man 💓

Oia isn't very big and lots of people venture by quads to other villages, but we were completely content just exploring Oia and relaxing at the rooftop pool.

We did go on a day trip on a catamaran and it was probably my favorite part of the trip.  We took off in the morning and had 3 different spots on the trip.  Our first stop was the hot springs...I had never been to any so I was really excited about this!  Our next stop was along part of the island where we stopped and did some snorkeling and had lots of time to swim, jump off the boat, etc.

The boat team grilled up some amazing Greek food and we ate lunch out on the boat.  Then our last stop was at Red Beach, where we spent more time swimming and relaxing on the boat.  The water was crazy clear, and although the water was cold, the sun was hot so it felt SO GOOD to jump in!

We ate at a few fancy restaurants but our favorite food was HANDS DOWN this place:

It was recommended by our AirBnb host and I'm so glad they mentioned it.  It's authentic, it's off the main strip and it's literally the best food I've ever eaten.  We even woke up the morning of our departure and were first in line at the restaurant to get lunch to take on the ferry...because I had to eat it one more time!

After Santorini, we had a long ferry ride back, then a long hour trip to the hotel we were staying in (right across from the airport!) and then boarded in the morning.  It was a long trip home and we couldn't wait to see our boys!

I am so thankful for family that could love on the boys while we were gone.  Knowing they were in good hands made it easier to relax and enjoy our time together.

If you ever get the chance to visit Greece...do it!  It was full of history, lots of shopping and other activities and was drop dead BEAUTIFUL.

xox,

Naomi
