Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. As the boys grow older and can enjoy the beauty of holidays more, 4th of July is creeping up there in the list of my favorite holidays.
Here's a recap of our long weekend...
SATURDAY
Saturday started off celebrating my sweet friend Ashley, and her baby boy. Love her and that little babe already ;)
Saturday afternoon, my nephew and nieces were in town so they came over for a couple hours to play in the sprinkler/pool and for a cookout. My mom, Abby, Matt + Harper came too! Somehow I only took a few pictures and they all turned out pretty bad. However, my sister Abby snapped this shot of Nate reading to Harper and Maddox. All the heart eyes ;)
After family left, we went just as a family of four to fireworks. They didn't start until about 10:30, so we got there a little early, walked around the park, burned off some energy and then found glow wands + got the perfect spot for fireworks.
Maddox sat in my lap, feet crossed, mouth wide open the ENTIRE time. He was mesmerized.
Jacoby told me every color he saw with each firework. At one point he told Maddox "Bubba, you have to cover your ears" and then proceeded to cover Maddox's ears for him. It was such a sweet moment.
Simple and beautiful moments with my family.
SUNDAY
Sunday we hit up church, lunch and then after early naps we headed to Sauer's for a pool party with friends. We had SO much fun.
MONDAY
My boys crashed hard late that night and then woke up on Monday for donuts from Aunt Susie, Leo, Gio + Theo. Best way to continue the holiday weekend, right??
After a little play time (Nate worked a 1/2 day in the morning), we loaded up and went to Nate's parents house. His grandma was in town and it was so nice to spend time with her and the rest of the family. We spent the whole day at the pool...I hardly got Jacoby out of the water...and he crashed on the boat after fireworks. No nap, swimming all day, and then a nice evening boat ride will do that to you ;)
TUESDAY
Give me all the matching shirts. Some day they'll tell me no. And then later in life, they'll look back and love that they wore matching shirts. I think ;)
Tuesday we went back to Nate's parents for swimming again. His grandma was leaving in the early afternoon, so we spent more time with her and the rest of the family. Jacoby played in the pool the whole time, Maddox took a 2.5 hr nap while the adults played a game of volleyball in the pool.
We did an early evening boat ride, that Jacoby fell asleep on again, and then grabbed a fancy dinner of Wendy's, bathed the boys + got them to bed.
We ended the weekend just us 2 watching a couple episodes of Sneaky Pete (an Amazon show-- I think?-- and it's SO good!). A weekend full of food, family, friends, sunshine + water. Late nights, sunscreen kisses, and seeing almost all of my family...it was the BEST long weekend. See why July 4th is becoming a favorite?
Happy birthday America...always thankful for the freedoms we have.
xox,
Naomi
