Lake Weekend 2017

When you have friends who feel like family, but live too far away...you have a lake weekend + then decide it's a MUST to do it yearly.  So here's the start of an annual tradition :)

You know what I love about this?

I texted Lauren on May 16 with the idea...and less than a month later, we made it happen. I love it when friends can jump in and go for it!

We rented a house that was a block and a half from the beach.  We got there Friday evening, went on a walk to get pizza and just caught up on life while the kids played together.  Jacoby and Kypton are 6 months apart and Maddox and KK (Katelynn) are 2 weeks apart, so the ages are perfect :)

Toddler smiles ;) hahah.

Saturday the kids had us up early-- we hardly slept, but vacation with kids, right???  We made pancakes and then headed to the beach.  We got there and we were the only ones. The boys went straight to the water and threw rocks in for a long time.  It was a smaller beach on Lake Michigan, and it was hot enough to enjoy the sun but with the perfect breeze to keep us cool.  We played all morning until it was lunch time.

After lunch, we had early naps, and then headed back to the beach for the afternoon. There were more people there in the afternoon but still not too full and perfect for us and the kids.  The beach had some rocks right by the water, so the boys threw rocks in the water for most of the day.

They also shoveled sand, rolled around in it (I think maybe only Jacoby did?), ate way too much sand, and even got buried by Matt :)

It was super fun to watch Coby and Kyp play together...they entertained each other and played nicely for the most part.  It made it so us adults could actually talk for a little bit while hanging with the little ones, which was refreshing!

In the evening we grilled dinner, played some more with the kids-- they all got baths and we put the little ones to bed.  The big kids got an amazing shadow puppet story by the one + only Matt (I was crying from laughter + the boys were loving it!) before bed.

Maddox slept a lot better the 2nd night and so we were able to have drinks, sit by the bonfire and have adult time...

We ended the trip on Sunday morning by checking out early, going to the park + the zoo before heading home for naps.

This past weekend was such a fun trip...so much fun, so much chaos + so many memories with one of our favorite families.  Friends that you can talk real life--from jobs to parenting to marriage and everything in between! Ones who you can count on, ones who are in the same crazy stage of life as you...and ones who you beg to move closer all the time ;)

We are so thankful for you Glynns and are already looking forward to next years lake trip!

xox,

Naomi
