Celery Juice

Celery Juice.
It's all the rage.

I heard so many good things about it and was super intrigued...

I'm not one for fads, diets, or things like that but with all the great things that I read about celery juice, I thought I should try it out.

I've been doing it since January 15, so I thought I'd do a little write up about what/how/why/results, etc.

This doesn't make me a doctor OR an expert, I just feel like it's given me a lot of benefits and thought I'd share.

How much & how often do you drink?

I started out with 4 oz because the taste was so bad. Tips: Plug your nose, close your eyes and CHUG.

I drink about 10 oz, 5 days/week.  You're supposed to drink 16 oz every day. I'm close enough. Sometimes I need a break!

Do you have to have a juicer?

I totally bought a juicer just for the celery juice reason and it makes it super easy.  A blender makes more work because you have to strain it after blending.

How bad does it taste?

I'm not going to sugar coat it...it's pretty bad.  Super salty.
The first time I drank it I thought "There's no way I could do this every day".

There are 2 tricks I use:
1. Plug your nose while drinking it
2. Chug it

What benefits have you seen?

1. It gives me more energy.  Honestly.  I am able to cut back on my caffeine intake and it really helps me feel more energized.

2. It helps bloating.  Lots of people talk about how it has helped their skin issues or digestive issues and while I don't particularly struggle with either, I do notice a big difference in bloating.  I never really thought I was bloated, and then I started this celery juicing and it clears.me.out.  TMI? Sorry :)  It's crazy how much it feels like it truly cleans your body from the inside out!

3. I didn't do it for weight loss, but it did help me (along with eating right & exercising) to shed the last few pounds to get me back to my wedding weight 😉 They were stubborn and it was something I didn't expect to lose because I hadn't really been able to, so it was a pleasant surprise.

4. It helps with a healthier mind set.  I wake up and the first thing I do is a healthy thing.  It helps me start my day off being better, and it reminds me to eat healthier, exercise, etc.  It's a total mind game, but one that actually works for me.

Where did you learn about this? Did you read Liver Rescue?

Part of the celery juice cleanse fad started with the Liver Rescue book.  I never read that book (and probably won't...I prefer to read fiction), but I follow the account @celeryjuicebenefits on Instagram and it's super helpful.  She breaks down myths, facts, and the science behind it all. She also posts LOTS of people's stories and what celery juice has done for them.

What are your honest thoughts?

I honestly think it works.  I was skeptical, but thought it would be easy to try.  I think it works to some degree for everyone, depending on what your needs are.  I expected to do it for a few weeks and be over it, but I'm actually still enjoying it because of the benefits.  (I've taken a quick 2 week break because we are moving and my juicer is packed up...but I miss it, HAHA)

I dare you to try it and tell me what you think! :) Cheers!!

xox,

Naomi
