Christmas 2017

Christmas 2017.  We had such a fun time!  It was busy and filled with lots of family and friend time, but it was also filled with lots of love!  Jacoby really started to grasp the idea of Chistmas...from Santa, to Christmas trees to "baby Jesus's birthday" and Maddox was along for the ride, as long as it didn't involve sitting on Santa's lap 😉

Here's a recap with lots of photos of how we celebrated the Christmas season.

We started it off with Santa lighting the Christmas tree and then fireworks...

and we started a tradition of North Pole Breakfast!

We ate lots of sweets and did some art work too. These pics are all of Jacoby probably because Maddox was too busy destroying things around the house #justsayin #toolittletofocus #goodatdestroyingthingsthough

We had LOTS of snow and it was beautiful!  It's in the negatives this week, so we haven't played outside but we are SO ready to play in the snow some more once it warms up a little.

We went to Skyzone and jumped with Santa.  Maddox wouldn't go near him, but Jacoby flirted with Mrs. Clause and even got a kiss ;)

We spent a lot of time at Target, but what's new? Maddox's smile is the SWEETEST, right?!?

We looked at Christmas lights a couple of times, complete with hot cocoa...

and spent lots of time with family and friends.

I wanted to find a way to incorporate the story of Jesus' birth into our Christmas season.  The boys are little but Jacoby is at an age where things start to click and I really wanted to be intentional in making sure he knew WHY we really celebrate Christmas.  I found this advent calendar on Amazon for like $12 an it was PERFECT.  I kept it in Jacoby's room and every night before bed he would help us find the book for the day, we would read it and talk about it, and then I would hang the mini book on the little Christmas tree I had on his dresser.  He loved reading them and was always sure to remind us that we had to read it after he got his jammies on.

If you're looking for a good, cheap Advent calendar- I highly recommend this one.  It's simple, explains the story of Jesus' birth in a simple way for little ones and Jacoby really enjoyed it .Just a little FYI :)

On Christmas Eve we went to the morning church service, then had lunch with some family.
In the evening, we put on our Christmas jammies, ate some sweet treats, and then put on a Christmas movie and snuggled up.  It lasted about 5 minutes with Maddox...but I love the start of the tradition :)

Christmas day I was horrible at actually taking pictures, but I did snap a pic with both boys.  I never got one with their sweet daddy tho!

There are SO many kids on my side of the family.  Look how many grandbabies my mom has...and still counting ;)

Last Christmas as a family of 4!

We ended the year at a party with friends and the boys stayed up till 1 am.  They can rally ;)

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season!!

xox,

Naomi
