You guys... I am t i r e d. It was a whirlwind of a weekend and we packed in as much as we could. It was SO fun + SO good, but this Monday is a good day of just resting. Here's a little weekend recap!
Friday
Friday started off with Nate working 1/2 a day, so he stayed home with the boys in the afternoon while I ran my tail off getting around the last minute things for Maddox's party. I forgot that the whole world basically had off and would be shopping for their Easter meals on Friday. Target was INSANE.
After running around, I came back home, baked Maddox's cake {yes, it was homemade...more on that later}, got ready + we went to dinner with Eric + Amanda, and then went to our friends house for game night. We got home at 12:30 {because that's what responsible parents do...keep their kids up until 12:30am the night before their little one's first birthday party.} We got home + crashed.
Saturday
Satruday we woke up around 9am to get ready for the party. We shuffled around getting last minute things together, taking care of the boys + making sure everything was all set. We just had both Nate + I's immediate family. When you just do that, we still have over 30 people #bigfamilyproblems. Maddox isn't a huge fan of big crowds so since his birthday is about HIM...we kept it as small as possible.
Maddox was in an amazing mood and kinda opened gifts...but he shined when it came to eating the cake. I made Mix and Match Mama's Vanilla Bean Noel bundt cake, and then decorated it with frosting and l o t s of sprinkles.
For Jacoby's first birthday we bought a cake, paid a lot for it... and he didn't really like the taste + hardly ate it. I told Nate, let's not waste the money and I think I can make a cake that looks decent and that Maddox will enjoy.
The cake looked decent, but Maddox totally enjoyed the cake. He sat in his chair smiling and eating every single bite of frosting and sprinkles that he could... and then ate a few bites of the cake too :)
Mom win on the cake ;) Baby #3..whenever we get there... can plan on a homemade cake too!
After the party Saturday, my family hung around our house all day and evening. My brother, his wife + their 4 kids all live in Indy, so when they come up we try to squeeze in as much time as possible. It was so good for my soul to spend so much time with my family. It's crazy, chaotic + loud...but also lots of FUN.
Saturday night Nate + I watched a movie once everyone left and our boys were in bed. I started not feeling well on Friday night (Nate made me take Nyquil for the first time in my life...), and I felt alright on Saturday, but after a full day of busyness- my head was pounding, throat was sore, nose stuffed up + I was sneezing all the time- I was ready for bed. So I did just that.
Sunday {Easter}
Sunday we woke up and went to a new church we are SO excited about!!
After church, we came back to our house where my family had lunch, did an Easter egg hunt + then I took a quick nap before we headed to Nate's aunt's house for his family's Easter get together. We stayed until about 9:30, put the boys in jammies, drove home + put them in bed. Then I took a shower and we went to bed.
It's Monday and we are back to our regular routine...grocery shopping, laundry, playing outside {because this weather has me in the best mood}, and resting up after a long weekend.
I'm so thankful for our risen Savior and for my wonderful family that we got to spend so much time with this weekend. My heart is full.
