11 Month Update {Maddox}

11 M O N T H S

Can't. Believe. It.

Your Favorites: Mommy, people singing/talking to you, Benny (all dogs really), food, balls, sleeping in your crib, and baths!

Your Not-So-Favorites: Milk from any kind of bottle or sippy cup, being in the car seat too long, and places with too many people, being alone, and getting dressed.

EAT:

The past two weeks I've officially weaned you and you're on all formula except for when you get up somewhere between 5-7am and I nurse you then.  You hate that I've weaned you...you want nothing to do with any kind of bottle or sippy cup, no matter how many we try. It's not the taste of formula because you hardly take breastmilk from them either.  You'll catch on soon enough, but it hasn't been the best transition for you.

You still mow down big kid food like it's your job.  You eat WAY more than your older brother and are always happy if you have food in your hands and mouth.  You eat just about everything, which is so nice...I hope you keep it up!

Sleep:

While you haven't slept through the night (12 hours) except for one day last month, you are consistently sleeping 9pm-somewhere between 5-7am and then go back down till 9.  This is doable for me and as much as I'd love for you to sleep 9-9, I'm being patient since I know the whole weaning thing is hard on you.  I let that time early in the morning be our time...the time you get just me and exactly what you want :) There will come a day when it's not needed, but for now I think we both kinda love it.

You have sort of dropped your morning nap-- it was causing your afternoon naps to struggle.  I appreciate you and your brother both taking 2 hour afternoon naps, so I decided to just not put you down in the mornings anymore and it's worked out pretty well.  If we're out and about, you'll snooze a little bit in the car which I don't mind...but I try avoid letting you sleep longer than 15 minutes, or else your afternoon nap is only like an hour :)

Play:

You are full on army crawling everywhere!!! You will get on your knees and hands, move your knees about 4-5 times and then realize you'd rather army crawl.  I swear it looks so exhausting watching you pull yourself all around the house with your arms...but that's what you wanna do, haha!

You pull yourself up on everything and get really frustrated when you get stuck trying to do so.

You are such a happy baby as long as you're not hungry or tired.  You love to play with balls-- you put them in the hoop, clap & say "yayyyyy", then do it again and again. It's so freakin adorable.

You say 3 words: "mama", "dada", and "yay"

You clap your hands and give high fives!

When you clap your hands, you get the biggest smile on your face...you're just so proud!

You aren't super chatty and would rather just watch everything going on.  Every now and then in the car you say "mamamamma" and Jacoby tells you "No Bubba...no talking". He thinks he's the boss. I can't wait for the day you remind him he's not :) hahahaha.

You have 4 teeth-- front bottom 2 and front top 2.  You have the sweetest smile and are complimented often on your soft skin and deep brown eyes.

You still love standing up on the coffee table but now you walk around it, go from that to the couch and back.  I think you're still pretty far from walking, but you can really move if you have something to hold on to.

You think dogs are hilarious and beg to be kissed by them.  We saw a dog who doesn't really lick and you stared at her as if she was being rude by not kissing you.  You stuck your hand right in her and face and practically begged for a kiss...no such luck.  Benny makes you so happy and takes you up on the kisses all day every day.

There's no problem that a bath can't fix for you. It's one of your very favorite things.

Mama is still your comfort, and it's exactly what I want to be for you.

You have this desire for the perfect number of people.  You don't like being alone, but you also don't want to be around 50 people.

People tell me daily how much you look like your daddy (or one of his brothers, ha!).  I see SO much Carpenter in you.  We were looking at baby pictures of your daddy and besides his hair being lighter...you two are twins.

Summing you up? You look and act like your daddy, but mama is your love!

with daddy as a close second ;)

Bubba,

Oh how I pray that you and I will always have a special bond.  While some days it's exhausting when all you want is me, it's those days that I'm reminded just how lucky I am to have you...you make me feel so special. You think your daddy and Jacoby are silly (and it's true!) and I can't wait to watch you grow in those relationships too.  Thanks for such a wonderful 11 months, my little one.  Stay you...you're one in a billion.

xox,

Mama
