Maddox {21 Weeks}

How far along? 21 weeks Jacoby 21 weeks
Total weight gain: 5.5 lbs. Not sure how I lost weight or if the scale was right? This weight was from the scale at my doctor, which is the same one that tracked my weight for Jacoby.  I believe so far I'm tracking similar weight gain as I did with Coby.
Maternity clothes? Yes. I'm wearing a long tunic sweater today that is non-maternity but fits perfectly :) Stretchy + long are the keys to it fitting!
Stretch marks? No :)
Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good, so nothing to complain about! Although I think a pregnancy pillow is going to be a purchase in the near future. Sleeping on your side with a belly makes it hard to keep your balance haha.
Best moment this week: The echocardiogram on Monday! (See below for a longer update)

Miss Anything? No-- thankfully I don't really crave anything that's a big no-no. Although my brother in law made pina coladas the other night + it sounded SO good!
Movement: He's moving quite a bit. It's not regular or predictable, but I feel him subtly throughout the day and much more in the evenings.  He has been a wiggle worm in all the ultrasounds & was again during the echocardiogram!

Food cravings: It's quite random & just about everything. It's one of those things where it just hits me like "chips + salsa" sound amazing, or "cookies...I want lots of cookies" :) haha. The weight is gonna come on strong if I'm not careful ;)
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, thankfully!
Gender: BOY
Labor Signs: Nada
Symptoms: I've been feeling fantastic! I've had a little bit of acid reflux/heartburn, but nothing to complain about--it's never terrible or long lasting :)

Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! Hearing that our sweet Maddox is healthy has us on cloud 9!

Looking forward to: It's Christmas, I'm excited about everything! The food, the lights, the movies, making memories with Jacoby + celebrating our Savior. It's the most wonderful time of the year :)

Baby Maddox Update:
The echocardiogram on Maddox showed us that his heart is perfectly normal {as far as the doctor can see}.  It was fascinating to see how well he could see all the vessels and chambers of the heart.  For the first 30 minutes, the Dr. was very quiet and focused.  I kept looking at his face to see if I could read it, but nada.  After about 30 minutes, he started talking us through what all he had seen + told us that everything looked normal.  {He had to make a disclaimer, as I'm sure all doctors do, that there is no way for him to catch everything but that the only thing he might miss is maybe a small hole in his heart, one of which would generally be no big deal + could heal itself, and something the drs would catch from a heart murmur when he was born}.  He explained to us what he saw + how it was exactly what he wanted to see.  I was in awe of how tiny Maddox's heart is + what all we could see! Science + technology now a days is incredible.  The machine they used like very similar to a normal ultrasound machine, so I asked the doctor "is this different than a regular ultrasound machine?" His response was "yes, it's more expensive". hahah :) It obviously works a little different and catches a lot more detail + is made specifically to get a closer view of the heart.

One thing I learned: Did you know that there are 3 "holes" that are linked to the heart (one at the top chambers of the heart, one by the liver + one by the lungs...if I remember correctly) as a fetus that close by themselves after birth?!? The doctor kept saying "that's nature", but I wanted to say "that's God" ;) The human body is incredible. No doubt.

xox,

Naomi
