Sarasota, Florida Vacation 2020

We went on an "early spring break" trip...mainly because we were ready for some sunshine and Nate's busy season was over and we were just really craving vacation time as a family of 5.  So we planned on Sarasota, FL because we knew they had lots of kid friendly stuff and they have the best beaches!
Few side notes...

Maddox begged us to get a house with a pool, so we got an Air BnB that had a pool and it worked out really well.

Also, I put in a shipt order the morning we left, and I just let our Air Bnb host know and when we arrived at the house at 10pm, we had all of our groceries sitting in the kitchen, and the cold items in the fridge.  It was so nice to just get settled and have everyone in bed and know that we had breakfast/snacks/coffee/etc when we woke up! Next time you travel, make it so you can either do that or an order pick up on your way-- it saved us from grumpy kids first thing in the morning!

Monday

We left Monday after the kids got out of school, flew directly in to St. Petersburg airport and then we headed straight to our place for the night-- while stopping at none other than McDonald's for dinner :)

This was the boys' first time sleeping together in a room by themselves.  Every night it took a little bit to wind down but then they were totally fine.

Tuesday

😩😩😩

Tuesday we woke up and hung around the house, played outside by the pool, then got ready and went to lunch.  Nate knows one of my favorite things is to sit outside while eating, so we made every attempt to eat outside every time we could.  Back home in Indiana it was like 30 degrees, so I wanted to soak in the warm sunshine.

After lunch we came back for naps, and then went out for dinner and then putt putt.

Listen, I love a good game of putt-putt...but every single time we go with the kids, it's a complete disaster.  This time I thought it would be super fun because it had a pirate boat AND you could feed alligators.

Feeding alligators? Great.

The rest of putt-putting...once again a disaster.  I say this NOT because the kids are bad...but because with a 5 year old, 3 year old, and 1 year old, things just aren't always fun :) hahaha. Jacoby tripped and fell and had a bloody knee, so I went and got a bandaid...then as soon as I was done with that, Maddox tripped and fell. Then we lost a ball. Then we lost another ball.  Then Jacoby accidentally hit Kendry in the head with his putter. Like it was just never ending. We did about 7 holes and called it a night. MEMORIES though!!! I laugh about it now but Nate & I were all like 😩😩

Wednesday

We hit up the beach for most of the day!

After the beach we hit up the park and found an ice cream shop.

We ate at this same ice cream shop every single day, it was THAT GOOD.

Of course a little wrestle match before bed!

Thursday

When we were looking up things to do & plan our vacation, I came across Sarasota Jungle Gardens and sent the link to Nate saying "this is perfect for the boys".

It's basically a small zoo but it's all jungle animals with lots of interactions with the animals.

The boys were so brave!

#bigfamilyreallife

Kendry love is getting so big! Also, go BULLS!

I was laughing so hard because the alligator would squirm and Nate would have to hold him still and it wasn't Nate's favorite thing....HAHA. I was holding Kendry who desperately wanted to be sitting with the big boys but I just didn't trust him with the animals :)

Can you see the joy in their smiles?!? This little bearded dragon named Sydney was super friendly and crawled right up on Coby's shoulder!

Maddox begged to do this "again" :)

Feeding flamingos, holding parrots, feeding alligators, and definitely holding an alligator & bearded dragon...I mean what young boys wouldn't think it was amazing??

Friday

We made Friday another beautiful beach day. The weather was perfect all week we were there.  75-80 and mostly sunny skies!

My boys my world.

Saturday

More pool hangs, lots of games, and just special family time together.

My kids really love games but we don't have Connect 4 at home, and so we played A LOT of it at the house...and I bought it when we got home :)

We also played a lot of the game Spot It.  It's a perfect game for little ones...it comes in a nice little container that I can just throw in my purse and we can play at dinner or any other time we need to kill some time. The kids can play together without Nate or I too, which is always a win!

We ate dinner outside around St. Armand's Circle and then walked around and got ice cream before heading back for showers and bed.

:) HAHA. Kids sleep in the craziest ways, right?!

Our flight home was right around nap time, so Kendry was especially naughty while we waited in the airport...BUT he slept the entire flight home, so I'll take it.

I love my people and am so thankful that we were able to get this trip in right before all the craziness of the Corona Virus.

Now we are staying home and getting extra family time here at home too!

xox,

Naomi
