Paris + Barcelona Trip Part 2

Barcelona... just a quick little flight from Paris.

...with the best (and biggest) sangria I've ever had 😍

We got there with really NO plans whatsoever.  Our plans was lots of sightseeing, history, etc in Paris and then to just relax at the beach, eat lots of good food, and enjoy the coastal city of Barcelona.  We totally did that.  We spent one day doing a little bit of sightseeing, one day sleeping until noon...because are you really on a kid-free vacation if you don't sleep in ONE day?!?, and one day at the beach.

Our hotel  was once again a really good find! I love a good random hotel find on google... we got there and I told Nate "I have NO idea what this hotel will really be like!" but it was in a super cool location (although it was a 30 min walk to the beach), we felt safe, and once again we walked everywhere from the hotel.

Barcelona surprised me.  I thought it was going to be a bit more laid back...but it's much busier than I expected! Lots of people, packed beaches, busy airport, etc.  Although it was a surprise, it wasn't a bad thing! Barcelona had lots of pretty architecture, amazing paella, delicious tapas, gorgeous beaches, fun boardwalk area, and of course- the best and largest! sangria I've ever had.  If you ever go, order sangria de cava.  Thank me later :)

...when they misunderstand you, you get 2 gelatos :)

We spent part of one day at Barcelona's soccer stadium and got a tour.  It was really cool...we saw a big part of the stadium...including all of the trophies, guest locker rooms, press boxes, etc. They had a really cool area for eating lunch and an awesome gift shop.

So many beautiful boats!

While we were walking along the beach I told Nate that Barcelona reminded me a little bit of Chicago...just mainly because as you're walking, you've got the beach on one side and huge, beautiful buildings on the other side.  Along the walk there's lots of walking, running, biking, skate boarding, etc...so it was just a little taste of home!

We flew from Barcelona straight back home to Chicago, drove home from there and got home around 10pm.  The boys were asleep...which was actually a beautiful thing to come home to. They woke up in the morning, came downstairs and then we were all together for the day. We got the boys matching Barcelona jerseys and I can't stand the cuteness :)

Home sweet home.

This trip was just what we needed and I still feel so blessed that we were able to do it.  I hope some day we can show the kids more of the world...our travel bug is STRONG and I have lots of places I want to go. I'm always planning/dreaming of the next one and next on my list is Switzerland...I think. LOTS of places I want to go...but I think that one is at the top currently!

xox,

Naomi
